Caribbean Boudoir Workshop 2011 Update….

By Workshops19 Comments

Wow. This is a dream!!! Honestly I never would have imagined that this would be coming together the way it is. So nothing is solidified yet, but since I am sure you all will need to mull over this decision for a few weeks, and since we will probably be opening up for registration in the next weeks, we wanted to give you an update so you could start; A. justifying it to yourself, which by the way we have to throw in that not only will you catapult your business completely to the next level ten times faster with this, but you will be able to completely write off a trip to Jamaica, B. start convincing your significant other, which by the way, kids and spouses are invited or C. confirm your “YES!” to yourself and start celebrating!

So here is are the loose, unconfirmed details (subject to change at this point): An incredible resort that I have had the privilege of staying at when I was younger.
It’s gorgeous, spacious, right on the beach and it has, uh, fifty one pools!!! We are hoping the workshop will be in a secluded villa that
looks like the one above. I can’t even fathom how incredible your images of the models are going to look!!!  Attendees will be required to stay on the resort. Our hope is to have 4 rooms available in the Villa for couples or for people who wouldn’t mind paying extra to have the whole space to themselves. Others can choose among other accommodations at resort.

The Boudoir Workshop will follow the same format as all of our others with very special perks and additions thrown in during the shooting portions of the workshop and an additional few hours of outdoor shooting. We will be launching more thorough info in a couple of weeks.

We are thinking the date of the Workshop will be the first week in May, 2011.

We are working through what our expenses will be but the cost of the workshop will be around $1200-$1400, not including accommodations which are looking like $700 per person for 5 days/4 nights at this incredible luxury resort, note that it isn’t an all inclusive resort.
As a reference, airfare to Jamaica from San Diego is looking like $500 per person. So all in all this workshop will be quite a bit cheaper than our previous Paris workshops considering  airfare, lodging and the price of food in Europe.

Yay!!! So, what do you all think? Are you interested?

xoxo- Marissa & Kimberlee

Only one more workshop in 2010!

By Workshops5 Comments

Is it just us or is 2010 FLYING by? I swear we just got back from the Imaging USA Conference in Nashville and now we are already planning our October San Diego workshop! The October workshop will be the LAST one for 2010, so if you have been thinking about attending one, we still have spots left! Here is a basic outline on how our boudoir workshop is structured.

If you want to hear from an actual attendee, check out this awesome blog post from Denise Birdsong, a June San Diego attendee, about her experience at our workshop: You can click the image below to be taken to Denise’s Blog, and yes those are her beautiful images taken at our workshop!

So, here I am again, convinced that this IS exactly where I am supposed to be. As I have stated previously on this blog, it is a little scary, a whole lot of exciting and nothing short of AMAZING! I have to say though, that today It is a lot less scary than it was six months ago when I decided to jump into this head first………

I have been provided with some incredible opportunities and situations (not all pleasant) to learn, to grow and to flourish from, I am grateful for them all!

One of these amazing experiences was a recent workshop I attended with the Boudoir Divas in San Diego. I simply can’t say enough great things about the team at The Divas, the experience I had and how HIGHLY I would recommend this experience to anyone interested in photographing women.

Over the last year I have attended many workshops, each time hoping this would be the workshop that empowered me, provided me with useful and meaningful information that would help me become my personal best, to provide my clients with an incredible experience and product and to run a successful business. Ok, so I suppose that may have been asking a little much for one workshop BUT Marrisa and Kimmberlee (the Divas )totally DELIVERED! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Marissa and Kimberlee (The Divas) were so genuine and honest in sharing their experience in the industry, what has worked for them and more importantly what has not and why. I must say, their willingness to open up and share the good, the bad and sometime the not so pretty was invaluable for me! It seems it is just what I had been looking for….. This willingness to share their experiences and answer, very thoughtfully, the questions I came up with led me to allot of introspection and in my opinion introspection is the true hallmark of any great learning experience! I left the Divas workshop more carefully considering my business plan, where I want my business to be in five years and what I am prepared to do to get there…..

During our workshop we covered topics including, posing, lighting, equipment, sales, marketing, workflow, pricing, best business practice and to top it all off we were able to shoot in groups as well as one on one with four gorgeous models (they were amazing, huge round of applause for these gals!)

Thank you again Marissa and Kimberlee for the incredible opportunity and experience, I feel so secure in the knowledge that this is where I want to be, where I should be and where I am going…..

And so this journey continues…empowering woman kind, one cheeky girl at a time !

Oh yeah, did I mention the amazing gals I got to photograph? Enjoy!

If you have questions about our workshop, feel free to email Ashley at [email protected]. You can sign up for the workshop by going to our Boudoir Shop.

Walking in the desert…

By Personal, Workshops7 Comments

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a little adventure of what happened at the Phoenix tour stop. Just another one of those random situations we get ourselves into. 😉

We’re really enjoying being a part of Showit‘s FREEDOM TOUR 2010… there is some amazing talent on this tour… and we are also meeting some amazing photographers! We’re currently in Washington DC, at this awesome coffee shop where the showit tour is being held tonight, and we are pinching ourselves as we realize that this is our job. How freakin’ lucky are we? We’re excited to sleep on the tour bus again tonight, heading to New York for the next tour stop tomorrow night. There are still some tickets available so if you’re interested, check it out here! We’ll be shooting a few more videos of the randomness that happens on this tour, if you’re interested. You’ll be getting an insider’s view of where we’re sleeping on the bus… and also a new boudoir posing idea from Promise Tangeman… so stay tuned. 🙂

We also have to give a huge shout-out to the wonderful musical talent on this tour: Miss Molly Jenson! She’s currently playing some beautiful melodies w/ very cute lyrics… I’m enjoying listening to her play as I’m sitting here blogging! if you haven’t heard her stuff, you’ve got to go check it out – and then download her music!

Hint, hint! Start planning.

So we have been toying with the idea of the Caribbean and the votes are definitely leaning in that direction majorly. I was just day dreaming today when I should have been working so I wanted to post my happy little fantasy up here to share. No matter if we go to Paris or the Caribbean we will be opening our shop to reserve your spot for the special boudoir workshop mid to late July so start your planning. The workshop should be either late April to early May depending on availability. These workshops are serious wealth of info as we don’t hold back anything! Not to mention you get to write off your vacation!!! We are so lucky to be photographers!
