I am so inspired by this photograph of Kat Von D. I mean is this chick cool or what? Fantastic at marketing, an even better entrepreneur, an artist, overall bad-ass, and she knows how to hire a killer photographer, obviously. I also love that she has big, crazy ideas. Okay, so she is a little wild for me, but really appreciate who she is and how she is an inspiration to women who fight for their dreams. Kat Von D, you keep pushing yourself lady, and we will continue to feed off strength and motivation that you just seem to emanate like a pretty perfume 😉 – “Diva Riss B” (get it? like Kat Von D? Ha)
The self-proclaimed male diva of photography, BECKER, was kind enough to tolerate The Boudoir Divas’ nonsense for a few hours and take some photos of us. I have to say that it was nerve wracking to be in front of the camera. K has quite a natural ability and ease with her graceful long limbs. I was very impressed by her and her moves. I on the other hand felt a little stuck in cement at times, but I can say that I definitely can identify with my clients a little bit more now. On another funny note, when Becker twittered that he was doing a photo shoot with “The Boudoir Divas” everyone thought that we were doing a boudoir photography shoot for him! Hilarious. Maybe that should be the next on our agenda, Becker would be a perfect candidate for our first male boudoir photography session.

The video quality is horrible (I think it was the first video we ever recorded for our blog), but the part I love most is when Weston comes dancing across the screen behind us. So random – I love it! 🙂

If you watch this video ’til the end, you’ll see us being our dorky selves & having fun w/ the balloons. Background on Marissa’s last comment: While we were shooting w/ [b]ecker on the beach, we got yelled at/cussed-out by a lady who was upset that we had balloons near the beach – she was worried that they would end up in the ocean. Completely reasonable concern? Absolutely. Did she need to cuss at us? Probably not. (After she walked away, M & I were talking about how if she only KNEW us, she’d realize we’re 2 hippie-ish/earth-loving/conservation-friendly gals… we’ve been called hippies on more than one occasion). So that’s the reason for M’s comment at the end of the video. 🙂
Thanks again, Becker! We had so much fun hanging out w/ you (thanks for putting up w/ us and our crazy antics & silly ideas of bringing pink balloons to our photo shoot). And thanks, Becky, for bringing the balloons & coming along to shoot video footage for us during the shoot!

In boudoir photography, posing your client is one of the most difficult aspects to creating your images. The lighting is one thing – but if you don’t have a good pose (and expression!), your image just isn’t as impactful as it could be. If you have an arsenal of good boudoir poses under your belt, your shoot will go so much smoother! We love our quick reference guide – it’s the perfect thing to have out during your photo shoot, to glance at it and create a plan of action for your next pose. (Rather than having to come up with the next pose on the fly, while working with your lighting, and also while trying to talk w/ your client, making sure she feels comfortable!) It’s a lot to think about, so if you have your Quick Reference guide open, it’s the perfect way to quickly & easily move on to the next pose. ALSO – the video is going to be downloadable for your iphone!!! We are so excited about this feature – it’ll be great for you to download & watch it for a quick little posing ‘refresher’ right before your boudoir shoot! Just one quick ‘disclaimer’ about the Posebook video: We realize that it’s not super-high-quality audio, as we didn’t want to professionally produce it (since it’s a freebie, we just wanted to keep it minimal & just get the basics across to you). The intent of the video is really just to demonstrate how we put a client into the poses. It’s not instructional, persay (we don’t talk a lot on the video), so it’s really more of a demo – and a visual for you. It’s great to see our best boudoir poses in the Posebook, but it’s SO much better to actually see VISUALLY how it’s done! We hope that the new free Posing video will be helpful to all of you who have the Posebook!

I certainly don’t want to sound like we’re bragging… BUT… we can hardly contain ourselves! The Boudoir Divas are THE FIRST boudoir photographers to be listed in Grace Ormonde’s platinum vendor listing. In fact, Grace had to create an entirely new category just for us! On top of that – she also asked us if she could use some of our images in the upcoming 2009 Fall/Winter edition of Wedding Style Magazine – for an article all about boudoir! So, please don’t take this as bragging, but rather pure & simple excitement from 2 gals who are just bursting inside as we see all the cool stuff that is happening! 🙂 We can’t wait to get our Fall edition of the mag!
