My boudoir shoot today….

I have so much I have been wanting to blog, but it’s summer which means we are slammed! Yay! Love it! But that means that my “to be blogged” folder will just have to wait a while I guess.

I shot this beauty today, Miss Kelenda, and while I loved these images and was so excited she gave permission, I knew that if I didn’t blog them asap that I may not ever get to it. And, if I am honest, I have tax stuff to do tonight so I may be filling my time with more fun things to do in an effort to avoid it. Tee hee 😉 Hoping in the future I will be able to show off more of her images, however some are pretty racy! And I say that to remind those who are wondering if we do shoot nudity that while we don’t show them on the site, we do shoot implied nudity. What that means is no actual bits n piece (lol) but strategic nude poses so the client looks naked without actually seeing anything……definitely a gift to add a little heat to the marriage!  xo- Marissa

The Divas get faster….

If you have been to one of our workshops then you have heard us speak about our same day viewings and why we feel that they are so important to us as a boudoir photography studio. There are obviously many sales related perks, but I think my absolute favorite perk is that it extends the fun boudoir experience for our client. She now gets to have an even longer play day here at our studio.

So here is what we do… we do the shoot and then have our client either hang out for 30 min to an hour depending on how many sets she had, we process during that time frame. Now it took us a while to get to the speed that allowed for this, but there were a few major factors that helped us take the leap…

The first factor was Lightroom. This allowed us to pop on our fave custom presets that we created for all our sets. The next was Motibodo!!!! Motibodo is a keyboard that works alongside your LR and does things at the pop of a button. No more hassling with all the different sliders! Yay! This dramatically increased our processing speed and we would totally recommend it for all you out there. Imagine what you can do with that extra time!

Free boudoir webinar from you-know-who…. tee hee

Hi friends! K, Ash, Weston and I are home from our very loved WPPI! It took me a few extra days to re-coupe. I got a little sick and as I saw on the Twitter and the FB I wasn’t the only one who fell ill to the strange bug going around at WPPI. Anywho, we are home, and as one of workshop attendees said (which Deena now says constantly!) we are ready to “rock that shit.” It always feels good to get back into the swing of things.

One thing that we were offering at our booth was instructions on how to find a free boudoir webinar that we were releasing to anyone and everyone interested in boudoir or running a photo studio in general. So we know not all of you were able to attend WPPI so we wanted to make sure we made it available to ya’ll. Build your boudoir portfolio at WPPI

We are SO excited to officially announce this! Yep, you heard it right… we have a PORTFOLIO BUILDING SHOOT at our booth this year! We are letting some lucky photographers shoot our model at our booth at WPPI! Anyone who has purchased the DIVAS’ LIGHTING & SHOOTING DVD will have a chance to shoot the model… so, if you’ve pre-purchased the DVD, simply print out your receipt and stop by with your camera! Viva Las Vegas! That’s right people, we are gearing up, packing up, and heading out to Las Vegas for the annual WPPI Trade show held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas! We are excited to offer our newest product, the Divalicious Lighting & Shooting DVD for sale at our booth this year. This project has been a long time coming and was a LOT of work, but we are really excited about how it turned out, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you!  You can check out the Lighting DVD trailer here.

Mission Statement

Our mission statement is so incredibly important to our business. This was the foundation of WHY we started the Boudoir Divas. It is still important to us today. We first posted a blog post about our Mission Statement way back in 2007, on our old boudoir blog…

And since our mission statement is STILL just as important to us today, we wanted to post it again, in case you haven’t heard it:

“Our God grants us beauty and love everyday. He empowers us with His divine spirit.He gives us power and wisdom to create a life that will benefit those around us and those he asks us to help and give to abundantly. He gives us the resources and creativity to create a classy and romantic piece of art that ignites confidence and excitement in a bride or wife and re-enforces beauty in a woman and romance in a couple. With praise and deep gratitude we thank God everyday for the blessings He gives to us. We have nothing to fear because Christ Jesus sustains us.” -THE BOUDOIR DIVAS

To all of our photographer friends… we have been teaching boudoir workshops and speaking at photography conventions for over four years now, and at each and every workshop/speaking presentation, we always tell our attendees that they NEED to create their own mission statement. It’s so important for you to let your clients know exactly WHY you do what you do. What is the passion that is driving you and your business? Why do you get up each day and drive to your office or studio, or ‘coffee shop office’ or home office in your garage… what gets you going? Why are you shooting boudoir? Let your clients know! We can’t tell you HOW many times we’ve heard our clients tell us that they booked their shoot with us, simply because or our mission statement!

But your mission statement is way more than just something for your clients. It is something that will inspire YOU on days when you’re feeling down, or feeling burned out. To this day, we still have our mission statement printed and hanging in a frame in our office. If we’re having a tough day, all we have to do is look at our mission statement, and we are reminded of WHY we are doing this.

Our encouragement to all boudoir photographers out there: go find a place where you can be quiet… sit down today with a journal and pen… and write out what makes your heart happy when you think about your business. In ten years from now, when you look back at your life and your business, what do you want your motives to be? Write out all of your thoughts, brainstorm, and then once you have tons of ideas listed out, you can start to create a succinct, clear mission statement that reflects you and your business. Boudoir Lighting & Shooting DVD

Just wanted to post another preview of the Boudoir Lighitng & Shooting DVD. The DVD is composed of 10 minute introduction by the Divas, talking about studio lighting… then the remainder of the DVD shows the Divas (Kimberlee & Marissa) in action, working with three different clients, on four different sets, with different lighting set-ups. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how the Divas interact with their clients, and how they achieve their ‘signature look’ for boudoir photography.
