As you all know, we’ve just put the Workshop Book into the Diva Vault forever! Over the past few days, we’ve had several emails asking us if we had ANY more books available. Well, we have decided to open it up to sell FIVE MORE books… with 100% of the proceeds going to THIS CHARITY.
We love that World Vision allows us the great honor of providing women with sewing machines! What better than having the funds from the last 5 Workshop Books we ever sell going to other women entrepreneurs in need?! We are thrilled! The $285 will cover a sewing machine and the shipping and handling to send you the book. Only five left so please buy ASAP! (Simply click on the Paypal button below… it will send you to a link for you to pay the $285… once we’ve received notice of the payment, we’ll send you the Workshop Book in the mail!)
I saw M’s post last night – and thought it would be fitting for me to share my latest ‘non-diva’ moment as well. Certainly NOT death-defying and not even nearly as scary as M’s post below (she told me the stories about that river… she was truly scared to death, as I know I would’ve been too!) 🙂 While M was facing the river, I was facing my fear of heights. While on a mini-vacation with my family, we were on this cool ropes course – and my little brother made me do the ‘leap of faith’ where you climb to the top of a crickety, unsturdy, wobbly pole, and then get to the top, try to balance, stand up, and then leap to attempt to catch the trapeeze thing. Seems easy enough – and doesn’t seem scary (c’mon, you’re being held by a rope if you fall!) But for some reason, that moment was just a tad bit scary for me. Getting the nerve to stand up… not thinking about how far the drop below is… trying to focus on breathing instead of throwing up… then looking ahead and telling myself that I can do it… And… I’m happy to say that I did it. Didn’t catch the trapeeze, but I tried. I jumped!
Next up on the facing-fear-agenda: tackling my greatest fear… any suggestions on how I should overcome this one?
Yeah, yeah, you’ve heard us say we aren’t “divas.” Well, not all the time that is. Here is proof! Oh man, honestly, after feeling the power of that wave hit me I was more scared than I have ever been for my personal safety. As gravity pulled the wave back into the river it sucked me with it. Luckily my toes were tucked and I used every bit of ab muscle I had to pull my submerged head and flattened body back up and into the raft. After feeling the power of the waves I shuddered at the thought of the most powerful river threat, the black hole! All I wanted to do was make sure I staying in that inflatable thing, no matter what! Some team member I was.
That is Weston sitting in front of me, and our “broadie” Bri in the front right. Member him from Paris? Allen, our new friend is back right.
K was supposed to go but because we had to move the dates (my baby niece arrived early!!!) she couldn’t make the new dates.
Sorry K! I would say “next time” but I am not so sure that there will be a “next” time. Lol. Well, maybe…. -M
Two new videos for your viewing pleasure… here they are!
These videos show a little behind-the-scenes look at our day of shooting for The Posebook Video. ***UPDATE on that: We are finishing uploading the videos AS WE SPEAK!!! We should have the downloads available for all of you who have purchased the Posebook… TOMORROW!!! (Yay – finally!) 🙂 If you haven’t yet purchased this awesome boudoir posing guide, click here to buy it.
As I was uploading these videos, I noticed that we have over FIFTY of our silly little videos uploaded on Vimeo… not to mention all of the ‘oldie’ videos over on YouTube! We know that these videos aren’t anything too special; but we do love sharing a little glimpse of our personalities, and feel like that’s best accomplished through VIDEO BLOGGING! So, we’ll keep posting ’em! 🙂 A look back at some of our very first videos… Remember THIS one? (It’s received nearly 14,000 views… just love this video of Marissa giving some awesome boudoir photo tips & ideas!)
I also loved the note that this viewer left for us on YouTube [thanks for sharing, Chris!]:
“For the few times I could take my eyes off of that lens (LOL), that studio is of epic proportions. I love that you know what you are talking about, and I love your presence on the web and sharing your knowledge. Above all – I love your images. The studio, personality, etc. don’t mean much if you can’t make a great photograph, but you consistently push out fantastic results. Keep it up! 😀 Chris”
then you have to check out Cherry Blossom Girl. I found this cute blog awhile back and have enjoyed all the funky photos this gals posts and here even more interesting style. Still not exactly sure what this blog is exactly about, but I don’t care. I think that’s why I like it. Enjoy!- M
Oh and did I mention she lives in Paris! Yes, that was my very first attraction to the blog. How cute is she below?
When it rains, it pours.
Over the last 2 and a half weeks, I’ve been to the Mac genius bar about 39 times. Ok, I exaggerate – BUT, the genius staff does recognize me now. Let’s just list out some of the issues: MacBook Pro crashes (fixable). Ipod dies (not fixable). Old laptop needs new memory (fixable). Old laptop won’t hook up to printer (not fixable). Old laptop won’t hook up to imaging monitor (possibly fixable). Old laptop won’t let me publish the Posebook video. Waiting for MacBook Pro to be fixed (on Monday, HOPEFULLY, fingers crossed)… so that I can recover the Posebook video, publish it, and send it off to all of you who are so very patiently waiting! It’s coming! In the meantime, pray for my sanity… I don’t think I can handle one more thing breaking down or crashing. I’ll keep you updated on Monday once I get my computer back from the Mac geniuses. Thanks! -K
Hey everyone – be sure you SIGN UP for our newsletter list… we’ll be sending it out today w/ a new boudoir tip! [click here to sign up!] Also, just had to share these shots from [b]ecker… I had so much fun looking through all of these shots (over 700 of them, by the way!), and I clearly remember what [b] said to me at the moment he was shooting these ones. Something along the lines of: ‘I don’t want you to take this the wrong way, Kimee, but… you sure do look great out of focus!’ Hahaha thanks a LOT! 😉 If you haven’t seen the shots on his blog, go check them out at TheBecker.com! (Oh and don’t forget to vote for your fave shot… right now one of us on the beach is almost at 200 votes… which one is your favorite?) Also, you have GOT to check out the [b] school! (If you don’t know what it is, where have you been?!) Seriously, Becker is so giving & so willing to share with other photographers, and we just love that about him.
***Don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter! It’s coming in the next few hours!!!
Hey everyone!
If you sent us an email over the past 5 days… Just wanted to say thanks for your patience in awaiting a response! Every once in a while, we all need a little R&R! Marissa has been away white water rafting with friends (I’m sure she’ll post a few pics soon)! And I had a chance to spend some time with my wonderful family in Northern California – kayaking, hiking, and tackling the most challenging ropes course EVer (photos to come later today or tomorrow).
The past several weeks have been a tad bit demanding for Marissa & I… I know we’ve alluded to some big things that are ahead of us – unfortunately we can’t yet reveal what those big things are. I never knew how tough it could be to make decisions & re-evaluate our business plan – but it’s been a little draining. So, finally taking a few days away from it all was EXTREMELY refreshing! I just loved taking this time to sort of get a little perspective for my life, and to remember & reflect on what things are the MOST important things in my life (God, family, and my heart’s other deep passions, aside from photography). Marissa & I are so excited about what’s ahead of us with the Boudoir Divas – so many great things coming up this next year. And thanks to our little mini-vacations, M & I are ready to take on the world! 😉 So, all of this to say… if you’ve sent us an email this week, I’ll be getting back to you today or tomorrow. Thanks again for your patience! xoxo, Kimberlee
