Just a few more photos from our time in AZ for the 09 DWF Conference… Thanks again to Jeff Caplan & DWF for inviting us to speak this year!
One thing you must know about the two of us. We love to dance. This is a serious love. Like big-time, all-for-fun, not-caring-what-we look-like, don’t-leave-the-dance floor til they shut-it-down- kind of LOVE. Thankfully we have some friends who also love it as much as we do. We had so much fun hanging out with these guys… Shaun Austin, Kevin Swan, Nathan Holritz, & our wonderful friend Candice. Can’t wait for WPPI next month. If anyone is up for dancing, just let us know – we’ll be there. 🙂
We LOVED our mentor sessions! It was so wonderful meeting each of you ladies, and we hope that our paths will cross again very soon. Thanks again, Jen, for arranging the mentor sessions this year!
Thanks to Larz for taking some shots of us during our “Boudoir Is Back” presentation. Check out some more of his photos here!
AND – we also have to give a big shout-out to our amazing volunteer model, miss Kate Wall. She was such a trooper, letting us put her in all of these crazy poses for the demonstration. Kate is also a fabulous photographer… check out her site! Thank you so much for your help, Kate! We can’t wait to hang out with you more in Vegas!
If you’re interested, here’s a [very] short, 20-second clip of our DWF presentation… Rather than just leaving you feeling inspired, our goal at every workshop & speaking program is to have you leave with solid ideas for your business. In our past presentations, we received a lot of feedback from people stating that the posing section of our talk was the most valuable. So for DWF 09, we decided to really focus on the posing aspect of boudoir. Thanks again to everyone who came to hang out! 🙂

The title of our workshops… and the title of our speaking presentations…
We are just oh-so-excited to see that in a very short time, boudoir has finally started to make a very cool comeback! Over the past year, more and more photographers have started offering boudoir. More and more vendors are starting to create products & marketing programs that focus around boudoir. And boudoir is starting to get a fresh look. It’s just so exciting! 🙂
Also, while we’re talking about workshops & such… it looks like we may throw together a mini-workshop in the Dallas area, probably in March. I’m trying to gauge the interest to see what location we’ll want to hold the workshop at, so if you’d be interested in joining us for a 1-day workshop (full day, about 8 hours)… let me know! Email: [email protected]
Hey everyone! Kimberlee here today… just wanted to talk about something that I’m very passionate about. I know it’s something that has stirred up quite a bit of controversy and conversations, but it’s something that I am 100% behind. It’s incorporating video and stills into visual artwork for our clients. The Bebbs have coined the term “Fusion” – I highly recommend going over to the Fusion site to check out their DVD that they’re releasing; it will be covering how to accomplish Fusion. It’s something that I’ve been interested for a long time now, and with my portrait business, I’ve decided that every portrait session for 2009 will be a combination photo/video shoot. [Check out my ‘test run’ with a shoot from a few weeks ago… not high quality video, but I wanted to see if it was something that I could do for every shoot]. Anyway… this is also something that Marissa & I have talked about for a LONG time in regards to boudoir. We’ve been doing our little video-photo combos for our boudoir ‘just for fun’ shoots with models for a long time now, and we’re so excited to start offering this new specialty service to all of our regular boudoir clients, too! I’ll be posting a little ‘teaser’ in the next week or so, with some footage and stills we shot a few weeks ago. Exciting stuff! We aren’t saying that this is for everyone, or that all boudoir photographers need to start incorporating video. I’m just one of those weird people that loves trying my hand in all kinds of things, so I’m excited about learning Final Cut Pro. (I’m super dorky like that). 🙂 So if this idea excites you, I encourage you to try it out!
We are pretty stoked about their new packaging and eager to share. This video is a crack up. Enjoy.
And since we are talking about our awesome sponsors KISS:
Also don’t forget to EMAIL US if you want to attend the KISS demo shoot. It was a blast last year and we are counting down the days until the next demo. I am already full of ideas. I want to show you all how to make your client look like a total rock star just using the simplest of set ups. $100 video light and a tiny piece of fabric and voila, she might as well be Lady Gaga cuz she’ll look that darn cool. Doesn’t this chicky below look a freakin’ like super model. I am not embarrassed to say we use equipment under $200 bucks. We’ll even show you!
Just a teaser, more from this shoot above will be released in a fabulous article by a fabulous company!
We cannot wait to share!
PS. Why does this blog make me sound like I have had 5 Coca Colas. I need to slow down today. I sound wacky. Well I did Twitter that I was highly motivated this week! Oh and this is Marissa. I am sure K will appreciate that I am signing my name. For reasons that don’t even need to be mentioned at this point. I can’t believe I am still typing. Ok for reals I am leaving. Shutting down my comp now…..Bye.
I really liked this wedding. NO. WAIT. I loooved shooting this wedding. It was like eye candy. So many surprises and twists and turns. Like when I thought the Dad was getting up to do a toast and no, actually, to my surprise and supreme joy, he performed his favorite Karaoke song. The bride was gorgeous and I just wanted to photograph in her beautiful dresses all day long. This one below is my fav dress of the day. I invite you to check out the rest at our blog if want a reason to take a break from all the things you should be doing right now. 🙂 -Marissa
Good news! Boudoir bookings are through the roof. We just bought a pack of manila folders, which we use for client info obviously, and it is already time to buy another pack. Staples here we come. Just had to share how in-demand boudoir seems to be. It may have helped though that we just aired a commercial on Star 94.1 for the week. Now on my way to go help the gals set up the booth at Bridal Bazaar. – M
PS. I am still wanting to find time to post those photos of Kimee on the mechanical bull. Never thought I would see that. Coming soon.
PS #2. Can you all see the writing on our blog? I just tried viewing the blog on internet explorer and the text looks like crap? Well I guess if you can’t read this how can you respond. Yikes. Dilemma.

We wanted it, and we got it! Even though the we lost the pink vs white vote, they still gave it to us. Can wait to do a 10×10 studio sample! Thanks Kevin and Shaun for stroking our ego and telling us it was “Just for us!” The girl in us eats that right up, but I can’t help but believe that there are going to be a lot of boudoir books coming your way cuz of this color. Yes!
Valentine’s Day is a huge part of our biz so I just posted this reminder on our Woman Captured blog. We have a big promo going here in the studio, if we reach 28 boudoir shoots between now and Feb 14th all the hardworking gals here in the studio will receive a bonus. I think they will get it by the looks of
things! -Marissa
I received the email below last month and I figured that this may be a question that a lot of you have. Here is the question.
“Hi Marissa,
I just wanted to say that you are a huge inspiration in my boudoir work and your images are absolutely stunning. I just wanted to ask how you talk so many clients into agreeing to reveal their faces for your website and blog? I’ve YET to have a client that has agreed so all of the images on my blog are well…..faceless. They agree to sample albums but nothing online… Thanks so much and enjoy your weekend! -Eric, Raw Photo Design
Hi Eric,
Thanks so much for the kind words. No need to make my head big! 😉 When we started out we had that hiccup in our marketing plan as well. We started asking gals in a way that made it seem more like privilege rather than a favor. Something like, “Your photos came out so wonderful, we would for you to be one of the gals we feature on our blog and website in hopes that it would encourage other wives to come and do a shoot.” Now it seems that girls want to be on our site and bring it up even before we get the chance to ask. Like a bit of a status thing. We also tell them that the only way to keep us from eventually deleting their photos after their order was to sign our marketing/model release. Another option is to let them choose the photos that they are comfortable with showing. Maybe some that are bit less racy.
So K n’ I didn’t have to time to make a fun episode out of this question….. so I will just sing the outro song. Na na na na naaah, nu nu nu nu nu NAH! 😉

Email me if you want to book a shoot in the Dallas area (we’ll be shooting in a super-cool hotel suite in North Dallas). Date: Saturday, Jan. 23rd (and POSSIBLY Sunday the 24th, if there is enough interest after Saturday books up). To Book: send me an email… we’ll require a 50% deposit to hold your spot, with the remaining 50% due the day of the shoot. We’ll accept payments through Paypal or checks made out to ‘The Boudoir Divas.’ After we receive your deposit, we’ll send you all the juicy details! And yes, I WILL be able to get your photos processed in time for Valentine’s Day! 🙂 We’re also thinking about offering shoots for photographers during WPPI week. We’ve had a few of you already email us to say that you’re interested, so we’ll be finalizing details soon!
