We are so excited about all that is coming up this year!!! DWF next week… Vegas Workshop in Feb… KISS shoot on Valentine’s Day… our booth at WPPI… Camera Cruise in March… and rumor has it the Divas MIGHT make an appearance in Australia sometime at the end of the year??? We’re in the midst of deciding where our next workshops will be held, and we’ll be taking a poll here very soon. Thanks to all of you who have requested for us to come visit your cities! 🙂

It is a sad day, my other second half moves across the country…

No The Boudoir Divas aren’t parting ways. But we won’t be quite as attached at the hip anymore….

As our friends and fellow photogs who read our blog know, Kimberlee and I, Marissa, have been attached at the hip in business and friendship these past two years. Between upwards of 25 texts, 25 emails and 5 phone calls per day, plus at times sharing an office, you can see that the term “friend” doesn’t quite encompass what she means to me.

Tomorrow early in the morning she leaves in her stuffed little car to drive across the country to do a few month living stint with her family to experience Texas life and then after that onto Nashville to pursue boudoir there. She has been such an asset to the growth of Woman Captured, but after staying an extra year at Woman Captured to help perfect it and co-write our book together, she is off to start her boudoir empire.

I am sure she and I will still be seeing each other quite a bit, I mean DWF is just in a couple of weeks, the Camera Cruise in the Caribbean, and then there is WPPI right after that and not to mention our Paris Workshop, our 3 week road trip across Europe, and our possible month in Thailand, but hey, not seeing her almost everyday is going to be very hard on me. But K-dog I wish you all the best and I know that you will be super successful with your own boudoir venture.

KISSmas party!

Last weekend we had the pleasure of hanging out with some very cool photographers, and we also got to meet tons of very sweet people! Thanks, Kevin & Shaun, for hosting such a sick party! We are so proud to be sponsored by KISS Wedding Books. We heart KISS!

We were really glad that we got to meet Dane Sanders… and also the elusive Keats Elliot! We were hoping that we’d have a chance to chat with Dane, so when he found us at the party, we were stoked! And then there’s adorable Keats… we’ve been in touch with her for months via email, but never got a chance to actually meet her in person (so we were kinda beginning to wonder whether she was a real person). 😉 She is such a sweetheart, and she really has a cool understanding of us and what we are hoping to accomplish with boudoir (she just ‘gets’ us). Let’s see… what else… we just loved the opportunity to hang out and meet so many fun people! It was nice meeting each of you, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks again, KISS!!!

One last quick story. I think it’s safe to say that for both of us, one of the best moments of the night was meeting Lou… the kindest lady EVER (bottom right). She works for KISS and also happens to be Shaun’s mom! So she came up to us and introduced herself, and then she just started raving about how excited she gets anytime a Woman Captured boudoir album comes in from Marissa, Kimberlee, Crystal, or Deena. She said that she loves working on those books… how sweet of her to tell us that! Now we just need to convince her to come in for a shoot! It was so great meeting you, Lou! On another note… we were surprised to find that our famous brotherfriends have posted a “Divas at the KISSmas party” video on their blog. But, uh, not surprised in a good way. Here’s a quick run-down of what you will see in this video short: I was a bit sick that night so I didn’t want to talk on video… Marissa’s feeling all alone and keeps trying to get me to participate… but I don’t because my voice is shot… then I simply walk off the scene after giving poor Marissa the dirtiest look ever! Oh man, what a brat! Sorry Riss! 🙂 I wonder if this video is why someone commented recently that Marissa and I seem ‘more like sisters than business partners.’ Hmmm… sisters who give each other dirty looks? Hahaha! Seriously, though, we rarely fight like sisters. We actually get along so well it’s just crazy. Love ya Marissa! And Bui Brothers, thanks a lot for capturing that footage and showing me at my finest. 😉

Last-minute gift!!!

Just got an email this morning from a sweet mom asking if she could purchase the “Bundle Upgrade” for her daughter.  She wanted to see if we could email her a gift certificate so that she could surprise her daughter with a cool gift.  So sweet!  Of course we said yes… in fact, we loved this idea so much that we decided to throw it up here for the rest of you.  We won’t be shipping out any more products until after the holidays, so in the meantime, we would be more than happy to email a gift certificate!  Email us: [email protected]… also, photogs… copy the photo below and send it to your loved ones if they need a hint for a last-minute gift for you.

Buy book and bundle now, prices will go up soon

For those of you who have our book you already know that it is more than just a book about boudoir photography. It is very different than the kind of photography book you buy at Barnes and Nobel. Our book is our complete business model, everything that took us 5+ years to figure out about boudoir photography and how to operate a successful boudoir studio at a very small scale, and now at a much larger scale. This book will show you how to return you investment ten-fold in one shoot, pricing upwards of $1500 per boudoir package. Also how to effectively add boudoir to your current services and easily generate more income.

Initially, we knew that when we priced our book we were totally underselling ourselves. Kimberlee and I are always so eager to help people that at times we cut ourselves short. What I mean by that is we are essentially selling out blood, sweat, tears, and costly mistakes for $175. On the same day that we were talking about raising our prices we received a phone call from the sweetest photographer who told us she would have paid $1000 for our book, it was that valuable to her. Photographer friends, who know both us and our business well, have called our Bad-Ass Training Guide a workshop in a book and think we should charge at least $700 for it. While we definitely won’t be going that high with the price we can say that we will be upping it soon. There is even serious talk about discontinuing the Bundle! With that said we are strongly hinting here that if you are considering buying the book or bundle you should do it now! – M

Divas’ Photo Shoot – Preview
