WPPI 2016 Recap & SALE! Free Boudoir Goodies too!

A little recap and then more info about free boudoir photography goodies….

Things have certainly changed at WPPI, a few years back we were the only ones talking about boudoir photography, now it’s all the rage, and we are honored to still be a part of it. WPPI, as always, was full of some seriously good, door opening, exciting information for those of us who dream of pushing the limits with our photography business. To think that I got to speak about what K and I do, the business that we have made, it feels… just good. Good that the hours we have spent on business and marketing and what we have learned in those sometimes long, sometimes difficult hours gets to be shared with others and maybe make a difference in their dreams. Save them some trouble. Like I said, it just makes us feel the warm and fuzzies.

Now there were some more difficult moments. And that was speaking WITHOUT Kimberlee! I know. WHOA. Could you imagine such a thing? I couldn’t, seriously it was hard. But it was for an exceptional reason, Maelee. Get to know Maelee, this gorgeous bundle of joy here on K’s beautiful post.

We are speaking at WPPI 2016

Holy moly we, The Boudoir Divas, are STOKED to let you all know that we are speaking at WPPI March 6, 2016 at 12pm! Yippee! Two things, first, I made a really lame video to let you know about said speaking thingy as we have a lot of thoughts on this, that leave us in turn wanting YOUR thoughts on this…..

Second, we made a Facebook  group so that we can see who’s planning on coming, pick your brain on boudoir photography stuffts, AND stay in touch after the event. Maybe even orchestrate a time for us all to meet up in Vegas and hang out. WPPI is by far one of the most educational and inspiring photography events. Our business and our dreams would never be as big as they are if it weren’t for this stellar convention. If you are on the fence about going we say DO IT!!!!

6 Years in Paris

It’s hard to believe I am saying this, but yea, Kimberlee and I have come to Paris for six years now either leading workshops or doing photo shoots. And now we are here again! Excited to see what this year holds for us as we set out to shoot two wonderful studio clients in this mind blowing city. Earlier today we were reminiscing and thought we would share our Parisian escapades with you lovelies. If you were ever there with us we’d be honored if you commented! boudoir workshop 2009 was our first try at this Paris thing. This was one of the bravest things we’ve ever done. We were like 26 year old little squirts (with terrible fashion sense) who wanted to lead a group of photographers in Paris, teaching them and creating community with them. We led a boudoir photography workshop for 12 ladies, who traveled to Paris from the US and a few from Europe! We were nervous, and SO relieved when everything went off without a hitch.  Oh this was also the era of K and I wearing matching things ALL the time. What the? This was also the year we decided to force our workshop attendees to create a music video with us, which you can watch here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRYRKIb_Tb4 After our workshop, we also took an epic roadtrip through northern France and Brugge.

boudoir workshop 2010. Or as we call it, “The Year of The Volcano.” We took on a lot this year as we planned for two back-to-back photography workshops with 14 people in them each! We rented a beautiful, to die for apartment in the Trocadero Arrondissement, and we even brought our moms out to help and have fun with us. Alas, a volcano filled the skies with tons of ash, stopping all air travel for about a week, and only about half of our attendees made it out. We were beyond disappointed. BUT for those who were there, man did we have a great time. All those who missed out ended up attending a workshop in San Diego or in Paris the following year. boudoir photography workshop 2012!!! Two workshops back-to-back, held in Le Marais Arrondissement of Paris. We really felt ‘in our grove’ this year and really understood how to navigate this crazy city. Afterwards K and I went on a road trip all over France. Incredible times, to say the least.

2013. We were asked to speak for GNPP in Tours, an awesome photography organization for the talented photographers here in France. We piggybacked it with a photo shoot of our friend Tenley. See the videos…. Sunny Day and Eiffel Tower.

2014
Last year we created a beautiful video/photo shoot with one of our loves, Christine Penny. This woman inspires and motivates us and she booked this package with us so that we could collaborate and create a dreamy kinda ‘day in the life of a fabulous entrepreneur in Paris’ visual story. Her video is one of the pieces we are most proud of. This is the year that K’s little man (just 3 months old at the time) traveled with us as our travel buddy.

2015
We are here again this year, and we couldn’t be more excited. This year we have two beautiful clients traveling here for their own photo shoots on the streets of Paris. Jennifer & Jessica are two friends who wanted to have a fun experience together, and we are honored to be able to be a part of this dream for them.

2016
While we are here prepping for our photo shoots this year, we have already been talking and dreaming about what is going to be in the plans for 2016. We love doing photo shoots and will probably book a couple more again for next year. But then we’ve also been dreaming about possibly hosting a ‘reunion workshop’ here – for any PAST attendees (who have ever come to a retreat or workshop, either in Paris, SD, Vegas, or Miami). So we’re putting this out there to all of you past attendees – would you be interested in coming for a Paris Reunion??? Google Hangout with the Divas

Recently Marissa & I (K) have been chatting about how we can connect with more of you out there. We love chatting with other boudoir photographers, or NEW boudoir photographers, and we love being able to answer peoples’ questions. So we’re thinking we’re going to give this Google Hangout thing a try! If you have a question (or 10), and you’d like an opportunity to hang out with us for a half hour and just ask anything, we would love for you to join us! Details will be coming soon in our newsletter – so be sure you’re SIGNED UP to receive it.

We will probably do our first Hangout in the next couple of weeks, and if it goes well, we might even make this a regular event! If you’re excited about this and would want to join in, please leave a comment below and let us know.

Speaking at Fovitech Peru 2013

I know we say this a lot, but it doesn’t change the truth: we are SO blessed to be given opportunities to travel around the world, and share about our passion for boudoir photography! Last week we were able to travel to Lima, Peru, for Fovitech 2013. We loved traveling to this country, and loved meeting some wonderful photographers! We were able to speak about “Secrets of Boudoir” at our platform program, and then a couple days later, we had 20 photographers join us for our full-day workshop! It was a really great experience, and we hope to go back again someday!

We got the royal treatment from the organizers of the convention – including a limo pick-up from the airport! So we wanted to give a huge shout-out to Aldo & his sweet wife Chevela, for being so kind to us through the whole week. We are thankful to have met you both – thanks for your hospitality!

We also love trying out new foods while we’re traveling. And while I (K) wasn’t able to taste this next dish (doc’s orders, no raw seafood for a few more months) 😉 – Marissa sure LOVED the Peruvian ceviche!

As you know, we LOVE speaking and teaching about boudoir photography… and this workshop was definitely a memorable one. We really enjoyed meeting these fab photographers from Peru (and a few other countries as well).

Before we share more photos from the workshop, though – we have to tell this quick story about the photo below. We have traveled to 4 countries with these lights in the past, and have NEVER had an issue with them! Until last week, when Marissa plugged this bad boy into the socket, turned the light on, and BAM – that thing seriously exploded. Like, I mean, the light bulb shot out flames and then shattered glass flew across the room. And then people came running into our room to make sure that wasn’t a gun shot. Needless to say, it got our adrenaline pumping just a bit! 🙂 And thankfully, we were able to use other lights to demo with.

We also have to say a big thank you to our FABULOUS translator, miss Julietta Swartzmann! Julietta is so wonderful; you may recognize her (from our boudoir workshop in Madrid), and we just love how easy it is to work with her! Thanks again Julietta – can’t wait for the next adventure. 🙂

Graphistudio sample SALE

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday!!! We just wanted to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Graphistudio webinar yesterday. We also want to encourage you to have updated sample books to show off to your clients & potential clients. If you don’t have a sample for your clients to hold in their hands, you aren’t going to sell. You need to have a tangible, physical book to hand over. We’re gearing up for bridal fair season with boudoir, too – we want our clients to have the BEST books out there, and so we are going to be promoting our Graphistudio books this year a lot more with our gorgeous boudoir gals. I (Kimberlee) am in the midst of designing a new studio sample that we’re going to order from Graphistudio, using this awesome discount. We’re going to use these images from our beautiful client, Miss Angelique…
