Getting ready to launch one of many Paris vids….

By Inspiration, Paris Boudoir WorkshopNo Comments

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goooooooddddnneeeessss! We are currently burning the candle at both ends working on so many new projects! Now that the studio revamp is officially done, we have focused our efforts on Boudoir International, our new studio website launch AND the Paris photo shoot and videos! Ah! While we are feverishly working away at this thing, we wanted to leave you with a a couple little teasers until the first of many Paris vids is launched….

SIDE NOTE: So not sure what this whole thing is about? You mean you aren’t totally well versed in the lives of The Boudoir Divas? Hee hee,  just kidding, sometimes we wonder if the 300 people who visit our blog everyday are just our mom’s over and over. Every year we do our very best to find an excuse to go to Paris, France to work. Cuz let’s get real, if you love Paris as much as we do, AND you love your work as much as we do, well then it’s just a dream-like scenario isn’t it? We usually go to host a boudoir portrait workshop, but this year we went just to photograph our client and friends Tenley Molzahn from The Bachelor. She is an amazing model, and just all around the cat’s pajamas 😉

His beauty is our inspiration….

By Inspiration, Personal2 Comments

I’m guessing you may have heard us mention our term, “Believe in Beauty.” You have also probably seen many shoots we have done in celebration of this in-house philosophy that we have – with another one of those shoot videos to be debuted very soon! But we wanted to talk for a moment about what the term means to us.

We are so grateful that we get to have a career that allows for us to dream big, to play with concepts and execute them. But while we may be the artists/documenters of these projects and dreams, we are not the creators. We are simply given the amazing privilege to document the beauty all around us that the Lord blesses us all with. We believe he gives us all this beauty in our daily lives as a sweet gift to His children. So the line “Believe in Beauty” is more of a way of giving Him the glory.

In our journey we have been inspired time and time again. Films, photos, writings that make our hearts warm and fuzzy and point to the beauty that we get to be a part of because of God’s love. We believe that it all points, and alludes to, the beauty that is to come in heaven. Here is just one of those pieces that we are inspired by – by Louis Vitton. An example of our believing in HIS beauty, is that we know that he made every woman uniquely beautiful. He created us all different, and we are so fortunate to be able to photograph everyday what we (biasly) think is one of his most gorgous and perfect creations: women.

We are so grateful to be able to document HIS beauty. It inspires us to want dream big. To create plans and art pieces that ignite our hearts and others’ hearts so much so that it’s clear that this wasn’t us, that the glory completely goes to God. This is an attitude and posture that we are doing our best to always hold on to throughout the day. I (Marissa) have discovered that the best way to do this is through a prayer I wrote and that I am working to memorize and pray each morning when I wake up and trod around fumbling for my slippers and coffee. We’d like to share it with you if that’s okay 😉

Dear God,

My Provider, My Creator, My King… today I am before you, thankful for my life. I thank you that I have another day to ask for your mercy that is new every morning. I ask for you to fill me with your love. And may I understand just how much you love us — “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (God’s words in Jer 31:3). Help me to understand my worth as a child of God. May I be a symbol of light and hope for you. Let me not grow weary of doing good. I pray that you would bless and protect those around me. May you be my Shield and my Sun (Psalm 84:11). Fill me with the fruit of your Spirit: love, patience, kindness, understanding, strength and wisdom. Place dreams in my heart that only You can fulfill, so that when they come to be… YOU will have all the glory. -Amen

Dream fulfilled… Paris Boudoir Workshop… Buh-na-nuhs

By Personal6 Comments

We are thrilled to share with you a slice of an experience that we consider boudoir heaven… Paris! I can’t believe it’s has been almost a month since our Paris Boudoir Workshops. That just seriously blows our minds. Blogging about something this special is one of our favorite things to do, but it is quite an undertaking. We had about 50gigs worth of pics and video and to pour through to come out with just a handful of a few images that might even speak to what this whole “livin’ the dream” of traveling to Paris for what we consider (sorry we are biased) the best type of photography out there… boudoir.

So here goes, a picture book breakdown of the trip….

Well, to say we had an INSANE time, well I’m not so sure that would do it justice at all. We were able to go Paris – which, if you know me and K, it’s basically the only place on the planet that makes our hearts soar as much as Disneyland. And that, believe it or not, is actually saying A LOT. We were able to pretty much combine our four loves: boudoir, Paris, our Diva fam (minus Erin, Lindsey, Sarah who did a killer job keeping up shop back in SD , we missed them imensly) and hanging with other photographers. Does it get better than that??? Nope, I don’t think it does. It is these trips that truly show that if you have that bananas dream in her heart, it totally can come to be.

We also need to thank Peggy Rogers for helping with hair and make-up and modeling. To Deena for modeling AND helping with so much. To the DIVOS, Eric and Weston, for helping with so many little un-glamourous things like techie stuff, cooking breakfasts & preparing lunches, giving help to the attendees, carrying things with your big strong arms, driving small European cars, and calling people and trying your hand at French (saying “bon-sway” instead of “bonsoir” lol). We also had some really sweet models at our workshop. A huge thank you to Michelle, Jessie, Julee, and Aubrey.

After the workshop, Kimberlee, the boys, and I were able to go on a good ol’ European Roadtrip. We hit up Loire, Dordogne, Avignon and St. Tropez. We hope to show off some of those in the future. Man were those some fun times.

To all who love boudoir as much as we do…. “bon-sway!”

Quick video update

Hey I have a lot to do today, wish I had time to whip out the MarkII! Anyway TGIF to you all and say “hi” below please! I always love to know who is checking in. It makes my day! -M

Ps. I cracked up at the thumbnail YouTube chose. I know I can change it but it’s so bad it’s good. Lol.

Procrastinating

By Personal10 Comments

Kimberlee and I FINALLY finalized our Imaging presentation today. We have put so much work into this and there is just a lot that we want to talk about and we only have an hour and a half 🙁 Narrowing down the content was hard. We decided that we are just going to talk really, really, fast. Lol.  Then I took it upon myself to create good looking post cards in Word to flip through for our outline. WOW. Not only did I realize how terrible I am with that lame program but holy moly! We each have over 100 cards to get through!

During tedious projects I always find myself procrastinating and looking up vintage Parisian photos or artwork. It is like a weird obsession or something. It was something I started doing after Weston and my first trip in 2006.  It was that trip that made me want to do a boudoir workshop there so, so bad.  I still always find myself day dreaming about Paris!!

Now this last one really excites me! Kimberlee and I asked our Mom’s to join us on the trip to Paris in 2010! I am beyond thrilled! My mom will just adore Paris. If she was a movie star, she would be cast in a 1950’s film right in the streets Paris (you need to pronounce it as Pareeeee for the full effect). The city is just so… her! I have given her an assignment before our trip in April, find a dress like this so I can take an epic photo of my gorgeous mother to cherish forever. And show off to everyone of course. Any ideas where she or I can find a dress like this? Short of sewing it myself (which would be a train wreck) I am a little stumped. Ideas?

PARIS!!!!!

We’re here! I can’t believe it. After months and months of planning… the day has finally arrived. After an adventure-filled 15 hours of travel, we made it to this amazing city at 6:30 this morning! In an attempt to beat jet lag, we hit the ground running, and we’ve had a very full day already. We checked in to our fab “Diva Flat” (where we’ll be holding the workshop)… then went out to explore Paris! We had a delicious lunch at a sidewalk cafe (where we enjoyed basking in the sunshine!), then we headed out for some sight-seeing. Here’s where we went today: The Gardens of Luxembourg (just down the street from our flat), The Pantheon, and Notre Dame. I caught my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, and it was a magical moment. This is my (Kimberlee) first time to Paris, and I am already 100% head-over heals smitten with this city. All of our workshop attendees arrive tomorrow, then the workshop kicks off on Wednesday with a full day of shooting here in the Diva Flat. I can already tell this is going to be a week we will never forget. We’ll be updating the blog as often as possible, so be sure to check back for the Divas’ Paris adventures!
Look at our awesome flat!
